About Odessa National Medical University

The Odessa National Medical University remains one of the leading medical universities in Ukraine. The University established in 1900 as the medical faculty of the Novorossiysk State University in Odessa, and it’s managed to survive the difficult and turbulent period of the early years of the Russian revolution. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, it became Odessa State Medical University in an independent Ukrainian Republic. Ukraine offers high quality education supported by the fact that Ukraine actually produces the fourth largest number of post-secondary graduates in Europe.

At Odessa National Medical University (ONMU) the academic year is divided into two semesters. First semester starts on the first of September and lasts till the last week of January. The second semester starts in the first week of February lasts till mid of June. The studies at the University start on the 1st of September and at the pre-medical department – on the 1st of October every year.

Curriculum

The Duration of the Medical course in Odessa National Medical University is 6 yrs.

The distance from Delhi to Odessa is appx. 4455 km, this takes appx. 14 hrs with one stop.

The Ministry of education and Ministry of Public health Ukraine approved the curriculum of the medical faculty of Odessa National Medical University (ONMU).

For 6 years of training 13,474 hours out of them:

  • Humanitarian subjects — 1,576 hours
  • Social-economic subjects — 432 hours
  • Fundamental /general scientific/ subjects — 2,180 hours
  • Professionally oriented subjects — 6,098 hours
  • Elective courses — 324 hours
  • Practical training — 972 hours
  • Subinternship /in the 6-th year — 1,892 hours

Library

The University Library is the leading scientific information and education center of the University, which has over 830 thousand documents in various languages. An important part of the library's current library is 4,000 electronic editions.

The library serves readers for scholarly, student, and art subscriptions; to the users of spacious reading rooms with wireless Wi-Fi network.

Among the main achievements of the last decade is the creation of the Electronic Student Library and the entry into the Corporate System of Medical Libraries of Ukraine.

Accommodation

The University also offers hostel facilities for students. The University hostel rooms are well equipped and furnished and their size depends upon the availability of students in each department.

Eligibility: Candidate must have completed his/her secondary education with minimum 50% marks in Biology, Physics & Chemistry from a recognized college.

STEP 1: To get an invitation letter from any University of Ukraine we require the following documents:

  • Copy of International passport
  • Copy of High School Certificate
  • Copy of Bachelor’s Degree (if the student is applying for Master’s degree)
  • Invitation charges 400 US$
  • Courier Charges 100 US$
  • You can send us the documents by email or by fax.
  • You can transfer payment to us via bank transfer or by western Union.
  • After receiving the documents and payment. We shall send you the invitation letter, admission letter and visa support letter by courier.

STEP 2: VISA

  • After getting the invitation letter from UESUkraine, students should contact the nearest Ukrainian Embassy or Consulate.
  • Students can also contact our local representative office for visa information and they will assist students in their visa process. Student should apply to Ukrainian Embassy with the following documents:
  • Original Invitation letter
  • Original international passport (valid for one year at least)
  • Completed and signed Visa Application form
  • Original of school-leaving certificate of secondary school (college) record with enclosed statement of results (transcript of marks received) and their copies legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of issuing country and its translation into Ukrainian language
  • Original of birth certificate and a copy legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of issuing country and its translation into Ukrainian language;
  • Medical Certificate showing absence of Aids/HIV (translated into the Ukrainian language)
  • Medical certificate of general fitness legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of issuing country and its translation into Ukrainian language. Medical certificate is valid for TWO MONTHS, which means an applicant has to enroll to his/her institution within two months since medical certificate was issued
  • One colored photo 35 mm x 45 mm

STEP 3: ARRIVAL
After getting visa from Ukrainian Embassy or Consulate, students should inform us about his/her flight details with date and arrival time. One of our representatives shall receive the student at the airport. In case student does not inform us about his/her arrival, he/she will be deported back to homeland.
